Drivers ages 6 through 12. Certified copy of birth certificate is required each year. At his sole discretion, the Race Track Promoter has the authority to permit an underage driver to participate in this class.
Roll cages shall be at least 1-inch .083 wall thickness mild steel, or 1 inch .065 wall thickness chromoly steel minimum. The front section of the cage shall be no further back than the steering wheel. Roll cage shall have sufficient fore and aft bracing and strength to support the weight of the car and driver in case of an upset. Bends must have at least 3-inch radius. No square or pointed corners allowed. Roll cage must be a minimum of 3 inches above the drivers helmet. Cage must have gussets at the intersecting bars to the uprights. It is mandatory to install a cross brace behind the seat to support the shoulder harness.
Cars must have bumper extending beyond the front and rear tires. Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of the tires to the bumpers. Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge or the tires or wheels, whichever is the widest. No sharp corners or designs as to hook or damage. All cars must be equipped with nerfing bars. Nerfing bars must extend to inside edge of tires, but not beyond the outside of tire.
On and off switch must be connected and functional and must be able to be reached by the driver when seat belts are secured. Data computers and cockpit carburetor adjusters are allowed. No cockpit panhard bar adjuster allowed. No radio communication is allowed.
Fuel must be Sunoco Purple only. No additives allowed. The most commonly used oil test is to take a sample of oil and put it in a common tablespoon. Then the oil in the spoon is heated. Once the oil is hot, it may burn when a match or lighter is put up to it, but if the flame continues after the match or lighter is withdrawn, it is determined to be illegal. Racers should not take chances. Racers should only use the commercially available oil their engine builder recommends, and they need to change it often. Teched fuel will be pulled from the fuel line that is connected to the carburetor. As with all classes, only 1 person allowed per car during tech.
Minimum car and driver weight is 400 lbs. Material used for weight MUST be firmly attached to the main frame. Only lead and/or steel plate will be allowed. AND such added weight must be painted white AND must have the car's number on it.
Coil-over shock suspension only. Tread; Maximum 46 inches. Minimum 32 inches, center to center of tires. Wheelbase; Maximum 52 inches. Minimum 50 inches, center of front axle to center of rear axle. Rear axle to be minimum of 1 Ό inch diameter steel or aluminum. ALSO 600 style axle, splined only will be allowed. Steering: Front wheels must be connected by a solid or tubular tie rod. All suspension bolts except wheel nuts must be secured by some type of locking device.
Steel or aluminum shocks. No cockpit shock adjustments allowed.
Brakes will be of sufficient strength so as to slide the wheels while the car is in motion at any given time.
Wheels to be 8 inches diameter non-beadlock only. Rim stiffeners are allowed. Right rear spec tire to be NMMA stamped 16 x 8.5 x 8. American Racer SD 44. Right rear tire must check 50 compound. Wheels must be held on with 4 or more standard lug nuts or knock-off hubs. Sipping and grooving are allowed.
All cars must have complete bodies of Sprint Car design only. Tail sections must be in place for time trials and all races. There must be a metal firewall between driver and engine, made of 24-gauge steel or .0625 aluminum. Body of car must be made of aluminum, fiberglass or high impact plastic. All cars must be an attractive color or colors. No rear view mirrors allowed. The only part of the car allowed to be dismantled for driver to enter or exit is a quick release steering wheel hub. Mudguards are mandatory, drivers vision must not be hampered. All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one-way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel in the event of a rollover.
The drive will be by engine or jackshaft mounted clutch. No axle mounted clutches allowed. Chain guards will be made of .090-inch thick aluminum or equivalent material and will extend from the front of the front sprocket to the center of the rear axle for left side engine cars. For right side engine cars driver must not be able to touch the chain or sprockets while sitting in the cockpit.
Right side board, maximum 42 x 20. Left sideboard maximum: 42 x 20. Minimum size is 6 sq. ft. The wing cannot be mounted outside the centerline of the rear tires. The measurement will be made from outside of the sideboards with the car level. Sideboards may not extend more than 3 inches beyond center section and sides must cover center section. All wings must have radius edge or edging. No raw edges. Wings sides cannot be more than 4 below top of roll cage. Nose wings cannot exceed 24 x 18, and must carry car number. Top wing is mandatory to enter a nights event. Cars may finish without a wing if no replacement is available. No wing adjusters allowed. 2 piece wings are allowed.
Front hubs; Go kart type with 5/8 bearings and 5/16 wheel studs minimum. Rear hubs; 5 x 130 Go-kart type or equivalent.
ENGINE RULES
The Briggs and Stratton WORLD F0RMULA 4 Stroke engine is the only engine allowed. ALL Briggs & Stratton engines MUST have a I - 44 SEAL on the engine. The motor specs for this engine are the same as the National rules and the KID SPRINTS USA rules. For info call Total Concept Racing at (405) 799-9204 ask for George. Mufflers are mandatory and must keep the car at 95 decibels or less. Mufflers must be run as manufactured by Briggs World Formula except for turning the outlet to allow fumes to escape away from the driver and for right hand cars. The RLV Pipe # 5442SK is the pipe kit and RLV Muffler # 4100 is the only muffler allowed, no grinding OR smoothing of the pipe or muffler is allowed. Mufflers may be ceramic coated. Loosely mounted mufflers or lids that come loose during the race will mean disqualification.
All cars must have legible numbers in colors contrasting to the background on both sides of the car and on the nose. Minimum height of numbers is 8 inches on the nose and nose wing, 9 on each side of the tail and 12 on the sideboards of the top wing, with an 8 minimum number in center of top wing. Numbers must be readable by the scorers. Numbers are limited to 3 digits and letters are not permitted.
