Chick Conquers Busy Weekend in Asphalt Late Model and Dirt Midget

Inside Line Promotions – MACON, Ill. (June 7, 2017) – Mandy Chick and team took on a busy schedule in both an asphalt late model and a dirt midget last weekend.

Chick returned to the seat of her asphalt late model on Wednesday and Thursday for additional testing at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in Lebanon, Mo., in preparation for this Saturday’s event.

“Butch VanDoorn from VanDoorn Racing Development came out as a coach for the testing sessions,” she said. “I learned a lot. We worked on and improved greatly on qualifying trim and some of the different restart scenarios. I think that I had a really good learning experience and it was cool to have Butch to help us out.”

Chick then made the trip to Illinois to compete at Jacksonville Speedway and Macon Speedway in the Johnny Murdock midget house car for a portion of the Illinois Sprint Week.

On Friday, a low pill draw put Chick on the outside front row of a heat race. She finished sixth, which started her on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

“We jumped back in the midget and felt pretty good about it to start off with,” she said. “However, we had some motor problems in the feature.”

Chick ended the feature with a 14th-place result.

On Saturday, Chick finished sixth in a heat race after starting fifth at Macon Speedway. That lined her up from the inside of the ninth row for the A Main.

“Macon was a really fun track for me,” she said. “It was slick and fast. You could definitely carry a lot of speed, which fits my driving style.”

Chick made gains as she maneuvered to an 11th-place finish.

Not only was Chick busy on the track, she paid a visit to Great Circle in St. James, Mo., as a guest speaker.

“It was cool to visit Great Circle and talk with some of the kids and teens there,” she said. “I got to talk with them on a more personal level and share my story more in depth.”
