Phil Harris Racing Team Returns to Lebanon I-44 Speedway

Phil Harris’s racing team has been a staple of Lebanon I-44 Speedway for several years. Most recently, Phil Harris won the 2017 Pro Late Model Championship with his driver, Mike Slone. After a one-year hiatus, Harris is back and better than ever. Phil Harris plans to field at least six cars next season, and maybe more. Phil Harris has built a powerhouse team that is looking to dominate the 2019 racing season.
First up in Phil Harris’s driver roster is Cole Williams. Cole is a Sellersburg Indiana native with a Track Championship as well as several feature wins, including the Masters of the Pros 144 and the Salute to 75. Williams will be driving a Pro Late Model for Phil Harris in 2019 and will be chasing the Inaugural Ozark’s Asphalt Late Model Series title. The series will consist of five races, all of which exceed 75 laps. While Williams is not racing at Lebanon I-44 Speedway with Phil Harris Racing he will also be competing at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in Tennessee. Williams also plans on running a few races in the Modified Division for Phil Harris Racing in the 2019 season. Phil Harris will have two drivers running full-time in the Modified division as well. Those drivers are Jimmy Fohn from Eldridge, Mo and Aaron Douglas from Lebanon, Mo. Jimmy Fohn, last year’s Big 10 Late Model Series Champion, will be looking to add a third Championship to his career statistics. While Jimmy is running a Modified, he also plans to run his Big 10 Late Model full-time as well. Aaron Douglas, a multi-time feature winner in the Street Stock and Sportsman divisions, will also be piloting a Phil Harris Modified as well as a Big 10 Late Model Division. Be on the lookout as these two drivers hunt for two Championships in the same season. Phil Harris plans on climbing behind the wheel of one of his Pro Late Models or Modifieds a few times in 2019 himself. The team has seven cars and plans on running six of them on a weekly basis. Depending on interest from other Legend Car team, Harris has an additional three Legends Cars that he is willing to bring to the race track. Harris wants to support the Legends division and hopes to create the Phil Harris Legends Series to run weekly at I-44 Speedway.
It is obvious that Phil Harris has a true passion for the sport of short track racing. To go through the process of having seven cars ready to race each week is a huge task, but Harris wouldn’t have it any other way. “We are fortunate enough to have a track like this so close to home. I believe it is arguably the best 3/8ths-mile track in the country. We are going to be supporting the race track 150%,” added Harris. While Harris main goal is to support the sport of short-track racing, he hopes to have a successful year on the race track itself. “Our goal is to win every race, not saying we will but, we are just interested in putting on a good show and racing clean. All the people I have around are good people that are not bullies, I expect that they will all do a great job,” stated Harris.
The March Madness 100 will be the first race of the season at Lebanon I-44 Speedway this season with a date set for March 30th. This event will host all five weekly racing divisions as well as a special 100-lap Pro Late Model Feature and the first round of the Ozark’s Asphalt Late Model Series. Be sure to come out and cheer on the Phil Harris Racing team and watch some of the best Pro Late Model drivers in the country wage war for 100 laps and a $2,000 pay day!
