Big 10 Late Model Summer Shootout and Throwback Night at I-44 Speedway

This Saturday night, August 31st, Lebanon I-44 Speedway will play host of the Big 10 Late Model Summer Shootout. The Big 10 Late Model division Championship is coming down to the wire, so this special event is only going to add to the intensity! Championship Point Leader Jimmy Fohn currently holds a five-point advantage over Justin Blake. To add to the fun, this Saturday night is also throwback night at the races! Be sure you dig out your favorite racing shirts, hats, and bell bottom jeans from years past! The best appearing fan and best appearing crew will be rewarded, we want you to go all-out! On top of all that, kids will be able to ride in real race cars around the high banks! All five weekly racing divisions will be in attendance as well to provide you with non-stop, edge of your seat, excitement!
To kick off the night, the Hornet division will go wheel to wheel on the Roval course for the second time ever! The Roval provided one of the most intense races of the season last time despite a few of the cars retiring early due to mechanical failures. This race should be even better than before! Entering this weekend’s race, Chris Albright holds a narrow four-point lead over his big brother Jeffery. Jeffery was extremely quick the last time this class competed on the Roval until last lap contact between him and Dustin Atkinson took them both out of the top spot. Jeffery will be looking for Roval Redemption this Saturday night! Drivers like Nick Bradshaw, Mason Mundy and Shyanne Bauman are all hungry for wins as well and the Roval will provide a nice wild card race for one of them to capture their first win of 2019.
Next up will be the Street Stock division. The Championship battle is completely up in the air as we enter the seventh show of the season. So far, Trevor Icenhower and Matt Pilant have been unstoppable as the two of them have split the six features so far this season. Pilant currently holds the point lead by just one point over Icenhower while Tony Johnson sits in third hoping to knock the two-point leaders off of the throne and pick up his first win of 2019. Johnson has been leading laps each week and is proving that he has what it takes to run in the front. Who will claim the points the lead this Saturday night?
Next up will be the ground-pounding Modifieds. The last modified race was arguably one of the best Modified races we have seen at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in the past few seasons. There were battles all over the track. You could throw a blanket over third through eighth place at any given time during the race. Richard Lewis was able to sneak to the front of the field and pick up his third win and extended his point lead over Brian Brown. Lewis is looking to do the same this weekend while Brian Brown is looking to stop his run and pick up his second win. Don Cloyd made his first asphalt start in nearly 20 years last race and came home in third and is looking for more. Another legend from the area will be running a Modified this Saturday night as well. James Ince, former crew chief for Larry Phillips, and later, a crew chief for several NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series teams will be climbing behind the wheel of a Lewis Motorsports car and is looking to steal the show. You won’t want to miss this!
The Big 10 Late Model division will be competing in a special feature event with added laps! Last race, the two-point leaders, Jimmy Fohn and Justin Blake, made contacted that ultimately sent them both to the rear of the field and sparked some post-race controversy. Fohn was able to rebound and pick up the win, while Blake was stuck at the rear of the field nursing a flat right front tire to the finish. This new rivalry may create an exciting Big 10 Late Model Summer Shootout event! While Fohn and Blake are battling for the Championship, drivers such as Dylan Bates, JC Newell, Justin Rice and Nick Cherry are battling for wins! This class has had four different winners in six different races so far this year, will we see a fifth this Saturday night?
Finally, the Pro Late Models will take to the track. So far, we have had two regular weekly races for the Pro Late Models and Brennon Willard and Steve Holt have been your first two winners, but Terry Limberoplous still holds a narrow five-point lead over Brennon Willard for the weekly Championship. Limberoplous has had terrible luck recently with flat tires and tire rubs, but he is hoping that those issues are in the past and that he can come away with his first win of 2019 this Saturday. Ryu Taggart has been showing speed lately and is looking to compile that speed into a win this weekend. Be sure to come out to Lebanon I-44 Speedway and cheer your favorite Pro Late Model driver to Victory Lane!
The gates will open on Saturday at 5:00PM and racing will begin at 7:30PM. Don’t forget to wear all of your nostalgic race wear! Adult Grandstand tickets will be $12 and Tier Parking tickets will be $15 with special prices for juniors, seniors, and veterans plus free entry for kids 12 & under! All kids will have the opportunity to ride in a race car around the track as well! We hope to see everyone Saturday night!
